IIJS 2024 drives record-breaking $12 billion of business
August 21, 2024The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2024, organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), celebrated tremendous success, generating $12 billion in business over its six-day run in Mumbai from August 8-13. The event, themed "Brilliant Bharat," featured 3,600 stalls and 2,100 exhibitors, showcasing the finest natural diamonds and jewellery across 135,000 square meters primarily for the local market. Attracting 50,000 buyers, including 2,000 international participants from 15 delegations, IIJS Premiere reinforced India's position as a global leader in the natural diamond industry. The concurrent IGJME Premiere spotlighted the latest machinery and technology, reflecting the industry’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s attendance emphasized the event's importance, as he announced policy initiatives like the reintroduction of the Diamond Imprest Licence, aimed at bolstering the natural diamond sector. Goyal highlighted the resilience of India's domestic market, despite global economic challenges, and the need for value addition in the natural diamond industry. The event's success was further underscored by its ability to connect the Indian natural diamond industry with international markets, solidifying IIJS Premiere 2024 as a crucial platform for driving growth, creativity, and global recognition in this sector.
